VP-6500VHD | Vidikron's biggest plasma display

Friday, February 16, 2007

Vidikron 65 inch plasma TV VP-6500VHDVidikron announced its latest plasma TV: the VP-6500VHD. It is a 65-inch plasma display that supports High Definition. It is the biggest plasma display in the Vidikron line-up of PDP that features, in addition to the VP-6500VHD, 42W-inch, 50W-inch and 60W-inch plasma displays.

The VP-6500VHD is also the first 1080p plasma display manufactured by Vidikron. It is the first plasma display of its size to deliver a true 1920 x 1080 (1080p) resolution. Another important recognition that the VP-6500VHD received is the THX certification. The latter is the toughest certification for plasma display when it comes to performance and, above all, video quality.

A higher quality viewing experience is obtained using a 16-bit digital video processing that results in 4096 steps of graduation for the images. This is meant to reduce the "solarization" (degrading of color) or "stair stepping" problems that afflict other plasma displays.

Using two Vidikron proprietary technologies (IntelliWide mode and Imagiz video processing) this plasma display is able to show 4:3 content without image quality degradation. It is then possible to watch this kind of video sources at full screen while still benefiting from the VP-6500VHD high quality rendering.

This plasma display obviously has the standard video inputs (including HDMI with HDCP) and also has one HDMI with HDCP output. Aesthetically the VP-6500VHD comes with two different elegant frames (anodized aluminum or frame) and is less than 5" thin.

The price for the VP-6500VHD is set to $19,995 USD and it is already available.
